“How can I contribute to increasing awareness of the environmental challenges; deforestation and food waste. And inspire consumers to reduce paper consumption?”

SART

As an answer to this question, I have created an eco-friendly alternative to paper for material use, to raise people’s awareness of paper and food waste and change their consumption habits. This paper can be used for packaging and is made of food waste collected from Bunnpris, Café Munch and Café Opera in Bergen. I am also addressing this issue through a fictional business called: Sart.

Sart is an experience-and-meeting place with services and special products that would make consumers aware of deforestation and food waste through the different zones of a shop, café, workshop and gallery within the building. This can be achieved by making Sart a commercial actor that introduces degradable paper in the form of shopping bags and gift bags, as well as packaging. The business is intended to be in line with the UN sustainability goals. Thus, reinforcing my focus on reducing food waste, paper and plastic consumption.
